Warrior For Life Fundraiser Golf Tournament at Granite Links
Event participants watch the helicopter ball drop. Numbered balls were $100 each, and two lucky winners split the $25,000 prize.
I helped my friend Amy Spirito cover the photography for this fundraising event on June 1st, 2026 at Granite Links Country Club (all photos in this gallery are shot and edited by myself). Since it was a fundraiser event, we worked pro bono. I was compensated in yummy food, a future free tee time for me and my best friend, and the opportunity to take some bangin’ shots. (People ask what do I like to do when I’m not shooting photos for work? The answer: shooting photos for fun.)
Not long after golfers teed off, I left to shoot a beautiful City Hall wedding, then returned to help cover the end of the evening.
I had the most fun capturing the helicopter — both lining up aesthetic almost architectural shots of the helicopter before it took off, and finding a unique angle of the ball drop, right up in the action with wind whipping dust into my eyes. While every other media person stood at a safe distance on the balcony shooting towards the Boston skyline, I was able to catch the whole scene, with the sun creating a gorgeous flare behind the helicopter, and walk right up to capture the aftermath of the ball drop with a $25,000 prize.

There were several other photographers and videographers on-site. All of them were on the patio to the left, shooting towards the Boston skyline. I realized the storytelling would be stronger from this spot, where I could use my ultrawide lens to show the guests gathered to witness the event, and catch the helicopter beautifully backlit by the sun.
I love the storytelling possibilities of using an ultrawide lens and creative framing. I always seek to highlight the other vendors who make an event possible.
I was walking back to my car, gear all packed up, when this shot called out to me.
